How To Measure Your Table for a Table Pad

You might be surprised but measuring and templating (if necessary) a table is very simple - in fact, you can do it in 10 minutes or less! Grab a tape measure and measure your table straight down the center of both the length and width. We suggest that you remove the leaves before measuring your table, and then measure the leaves separately. Make sure you only measure the top flat surface of the table, not including the sloped or beveled edges. Measure to the nearest 1/16 of an inch. If your table is perfectly round, or perfectly square or rectangular (meaning the edges are at a 90 degree angle), you are done after measuring, because no template or pattern is needed. If your table is not perfectly round, perfectly square or perfectly rectangular, you will need to make a template of your table by tracing half of your table. We will mail you a free kit which will include pattern paper, free postage from continental US, and easy instructions. Once you send your pattern to us via mail, our table pad specialists will be able to create your custom pad.
To pattern your table, first you must smooth out pattern paper. Then line up the pattern paper with the split of your table and place heavy books on top of it to keep it from moving. Then trace the edge of the table with a crayon or marker. You may not even have to measure or make a pattern. We have compiled many thousands of these patterns over the years and have them on file according to the manufacturer and model number. Letting us know your model number (which is usually underneath your table) allows us to make your table pad fit perfectly, with no measurements or patterns needed. If we don't have the pattern number on file, we will gladly talk you through the entire process.
